Anoressia maschile


Definizione

L’ anoressia maschile è poco conosciuta poichè questo disturbo colpisce prevalentemente le
donne (90%). Da recenti studi emerge che il disturbo colpisce anche i maschi nella misura del  5% – 10%.Gli studi hanno sempre avuto un orientamento prettamente femminile essendo l’anoressia considerata esclusivamente delle donne. Se andiamo indietro nel tempo, troviamo tra gli studi del medico britannico Richard Morton una diagnosi di anoressia su un maschio di 16 anni( e una ragazza di 18 ) che in assenza di cause organiche rifiutava di alimentarsi. 
All’inizio  Morton curò il ragazzo con preparati farmacologici ma non ottenne alcun beneficio, considerato il fallimento di questa cura  gli consigliò di andare in campagna e respirare aria pura, di andare a cavallo e fare una cura a base di latte,questa terapia portò benefici notevoli al ragazzo.

Così recuperò la sua salute in gran parte,sebbene non sia ancora liberato a perfezione dallo stato di Consunzione e che non sia del tutto chiara la riuscita di questo metodo

Aspetti psicologici


Gli aspetti psicologici vanno ricercati anche nell’immagine  mediatica del corpo, maschi che vogliono apparire più muscolosi possibile,sviluppano una vera ossessione per il fisico (Vigoressia ).e lottano per avere un’identità ed essere accettati.
Alcuni studi dimostrano che i ragazzi affetti da anoressia o meglio visnoressia  lamentano casi di emarginazione da parte dei loro coetanei a causa del loro corpo e di avere provato vergogna in molte situazioni.

Segnali

I segnali di sospetto disturbo alimentare possono essere rappresentati da:

  • controllo continuo del peso e delle calorie assunte
  • ansia ingiustificata per l’assunzione di cibo anche di normale quantità
  • angoscia profonda per una minima variazione del peso corporeo
  • vedersi sempre grassi rispetto a quello che si è
  • preoccupazioni legati al peso corporeo 
  • sentimenti di disgusto verso il cibo 
  • uso di diuretici
  • lassativi
  • esercizio fisico esasperato.

L’uomo anoressico di solito è depresso, irascibile, vive sensi di colpa e ha una stima molto bassa  di se stesso.












 

 

 

Quando si manifesta


Spesso il disturbo alimentare, sia nei maschi che nelle femmine, si manifesta  durante l’adolescenza,
periodo in cui avvengono i cambiamenti fisici e si pongono tutte le problematiche legate all’autostima e all’identità sessuale .
I maschi in questo periodo sono preoccupati per la massa muscolare, la quale  viene identificata come segno di virilità e mascolinità, e il desiderio di raggiungere la forma fisica desiderata li spinge verso attività sportiva ossessiva che secondo alcuni autori poterebbe portare ad una diminuzione considerevole dell’appetito e ad una seria dipendenza psicologica.
L’ambiente familiare riveste certamente un ruolo fondamentale, si registrano casi di obesità in famiglia, di madri iperprotettive o troppo assenti, sensazione di inadeguatezza e solitudine .


Anoressia maschile e omosessualità

Ci sono tesi contrastanti riguardo l’anoressia maschile legata all’omosessualità, i ricercatori della Columbia University in un primo momento ritennero che tra gli omosessuali ci fosse un’alta incidenza di soggetti affetti da disturbo alimentare a causa del loro aspetto effeminato e per la grande importanza riservata al corpo. Successivamente dovettero abbandonare tale ipotesi perché tra gli omosessuali oggetto di studio non risultava una maggiore incidenza di soggetti anoressici.

Cure

Non esiste un decalogo da applicare a tutti, l’anoressia maschile è più difficile da diagnosticare e a volte succede dopo molto tempo dall’esordio. La terapia comprende interventi multidisciplinari e prevede una serie di interventi da parte dei medici competenti, terapie cognitivo comportamentali ,psicoterapie analitiche, terapie di gruppo. Nei casi più  gravi anche ricovero ospedaliero.
Alla famiglia spetta il ruolo di comprensione senza giudizio e di supporto verso la risoluzione del problema.
