Mela: fonte di vitamine e di sali minerali
Le mele rallentano l’assorbimento degli zuccheri e dei grassi grazie alle fibre solubili (soprattutto la pectina), che mantengono bassi i livelli di glicemia nel sangue. Il consumo di mele è per questo particolarmente indicato per chi soffre di diabete. Sempre grazie alle fibre, questi frutti regolano l’appetito e, durante la giornata, sono uno spuntino ideale per calmare la fame, soprattutto quella nervosa,e per stimolare una corretta funzione intestinale .
Anti-invecchiamento
La mela è una fonte di polifenoli e flavonoidi, che rallentano la degenerazione cellulare. I flavonoli, comela quercetina e la miricetina, svolgono un ruolo antiossidante favorendo l’azione antiaging e proteggendo daltumore. Nelle mele sono presenti altri tipi di flavonoidi, gli isoflavoni, che sono fitoestrogeni, sostanze cheaiutano a correggere i sintomi di carenza estrogenica nella menopausa e sono utili nella prevenzione del tumore della prostata, antagonizzando il testosterone. La mela non va sbucciata, perché proprio la buccia contiene parte delle sue proprietà benefiche, la polpa molto meno, in particolare, nella buccia delle mele verdi si trovano le fibre, le vitamine e l’acido ursolico, una sostanza che, secondo alcuni studi recenti, sarebbe in grado di ritardare l’invecchiamento muscolare.
