Il sangue dal naso o epistassi è una perdita di sangue arterioso o venoso dalla cavità nasale.
Epidemiologia
Il 60% della popolazione in generale presenta almeno un episodio di perdita di sangue dal naso durante la vita, anche se nell’ 80% dei casi si tratta di forme lievi o sporadiche e solo nel 60% dei casi è necessario l’intervento di un sanitario.
Quali sono le cause della perdita di sangue dal naso?
L’emorragia si manifesta nell’80% dei casi senza causa apparente essenziale; negli altri casi è sintomatica, in quanto espressione di un affezione locale o generale. Tra le epistassi conseguenti a patologie sistemiche sono molto comuni le patologie della coagulazione e l’utilizzo di farmaci anticoagulanti e antiaggreganti piastrinici.
Come si manifesta la perdita di sangue dal naso?
L’emorragia, quasi si manifesta in modo improvviso e con notevole perdita ematica. L’entità del sanguinamento può essere mascherata dall’assunzione di una posizione con capo esteso, che favorisce la deglutizione del sangue; in un secondo tempo il sangue deglutito viene vomitato e appare di colore scuro a causa dei fenomeni digestivi che hanno luogo nello stomaco. Per fermare la perdita di sangue dal naso è necessario effettuare una pressione laterale contro il setto, tamponando, ad esempio, con un fazzoletto. Più raramente, soprattutto in caso di patologie neoplastiche, si verifica la fuoriuscita di muco-pus striato di sangue.
Cosa fare?
Chinarsi in avanti (non indietro) e respirare con la bocca, in modo da far fuoriuscire il sangue dal naso evitando che vada in gola.
Premere il naso fra due dita
posizionare sopra il naso del ghiaccioin un piccolo sacchetto di plastica.
Se l’epistassi non si ferma, è bene andare al pronto soccorso.
