Che cos’è la tricomoniasi vaginale?
La tricomoniasi vaginale è un’infezione delle vie urogenitali causata da un flagellato, “Tricomonas vaginalis“. La tricomoniasi vaginale è un’ infezione diffusa nel mondo intero.
Come si trsmette la tricomoniasi vaginale?
Principalmente viene trasmessa per contatto sessuale, ma a volte tramite le mani, oggetti contaminati (biancheria, cannule). La prevenzione si fonda sull’utilizzo di contraccettivi di barriera, come il preservativo, impiegati fin dall’inizio dell’atto sessuale in tutte le tipologie di rapporti. Le forme manifeste si osservano soprattutto nelle donne tra i 15 e i 35 anni.
Quali sono i sintomi della tricomoniasi vaginale?
- Nella donna:vulvo-vaginite subacuta o cronica con leucorrea abbondante, biancastra o giallastra, prurito vulvare e dispareunia (coito difficile e doloroso); cistite,cervicite, salpingite.
- Nell’uomo:spesso asintomatica; a volte uretrite subacuta, prostatite, balanite.
Diagnosi
Diagnosi confermata dalla messa in evidenza dei tricomonas nelle secrezioni vaginali o uretrali esaminate fresche o dopo colorazione; si può anche ricercare il germe nel sedimento delle urine. Coltura possibile.
Trattamento
La somministrazione unica di metronidazolo o il tinidazolo 2 g per via orale sono efficaci nel 95% dei casi, a patto che si esegua il trattamento contemporaneamente al partner sessuale. Â Pertanto i partner sessuali devono essere trattati contemporaneamente.Â
